Frequently Asked Questions
How much is school tuition?
Horizon is a Tuition-free public charter school.
What is the Lincoln Montessori (LMCC) learning model and how do I register?
LMCC is a K-8 program. During LMCC distance learning, students engage in direct instruction in all their core subjects, through Guidepost, with daily support from an assigned teacher. This support includes monitoring for understanding, small group instruction, 1-on-1 help, and extra assignments/projects to aid with learning. The parent’s role is to act in the capacity of a teacher’s assistant. For more info contact the LMCC here at lmcc@hcs.k12.ca.us or 916-408-5225.

What's a ST and what do they do?

How do we connect with other HCS Families?
Between our Parent Support Dept and our Academy Cohorts, we coordinate a variety of events, workshops and other happenings for our families to participate in, and feel connected.

One way our families may connect it through our private parent Facebook groups. There, parents are encouraged to reach out and ask questions, share tips and even plan impromptu and/or unofficial meet-ups with other HCS families.

being part of an Academy cohort is another way to connect, as your Supervising Teacher will most likely know other HCS families in your academy to connect you with. We recommend our Parent Educators reaching out in their academies & their Academy Parent Ed Mentors to coordinate meet-ups, enrichment events and more!
How do we sign up for Vendor Classes?
You can view the vendor list here (on Horizon main website). Your ST can sign you up for vendor classes anytime after the first day of school. They will create a voucher for you to pay for the vendor classes. If you have a vendor you would like to use that is not already on our approved vendor list you can request them as a vendor through our Contract Programs team.
What is the HCS HUB?
The HUB is HCS's intranet of resources. There, you will find a plethora of grade level resources, links and more. We have a saying, "It's on the HUB," because the HUB is loaded with information for our families.
